Pakistan Super League – PSL Record and Statistics

The Pakistan Super League is a professional T20 cricket league in which franchise teams representing different cities of Pakistan take part. The league is organized and managed under the administration of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

PSL features international star players from around the world, representing various franchises. Due to its competitive structure and high-quality cricket, the Pakistan Super League is widely regarded as one of the leading T20 leagues globally.

History of Pakistan Super League

The first season of the Pakistan Super League was played in February 2016. Due to security concerns at that time, all matches were shifted to the United Arab Emirates. Initially, the league consisted of five teams: Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Lahore Qalandars. In 2018, a sixth team, Multan Sultans, was added to the competition.

Goals of PSL

One of the primary objectives of the Pakistan Super League was to provide young domestic cricket talent with a platform to perform at an international level and to help them grow through exposure to high-quality competition.

As a result of PSL performances, many players later became part of the Pakistan national team, including Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub, along with several others who earned national selection based on their PSL performances.

Another major goal of the league was to bring international players back to Pakistan, reopening the doors for international cricket in the country. There is no doubt that the presence of foreign players, investors, and fans has also contributed to Pakistan’s economic benefits, playing a positive role in promoting cricket and its development within the country.
